Upgrading Modem Drivers

You must find out what kind of modem you have:
1) Click on the Start button on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen
2) Choose Settings, then click on Control Panel
3) Double click on Modems

The name of the modem will be listed in the window on the General Tab.

EXAMPLE >>>>

AOpen FM56-P 56K Speakerphone PCI Modem

Go online & go to the Manufacturer's site (in Example above: Aopen is the Manufacturer) or if you can not find it by typing in a location such as WWW.AOPEN.COM, try using a Search Engine such as www.google.com & search for the name of the Manufacturer.

Look for a link on the Manufacturers site such as Support, or Drivers, & click on it.  This should take you to their support page & may have a list of different model numbers of modems to choose from.  Choose the correct modem & follow the instructions for downloading & installing the newest drivers.

IMPORTANT! Be sure that you know which model of your modem!

Installing the wrong drivers can keep you from connecting; sometimes connecting, but no pages load; or connects & loads pages, but kicks you offline constantly.
